Jean S. McElrath, Nev. journalist and lifelong resident of Wells, Nev., was born June 8, 1917 and died Oct. 7, 1967. She developed rheumatoid arthritis as a teenager and was soon bedfast. By 1950 she was blind and by 1958 was nearly paralyzed. Despite these disabilities Jean wrote extensively on local news for newspapers in Wells and Elko; and Salt Lake City, Utah, with information provided by a support system of friends and relations.
